The Muskegon Area District Library has microfilm of the Muskegon Chronicle newspaper from 1869 through 2018. The Norton Shores branch has a ScanPro 2000 digital microfilm reader/printer that uses digital technologies to provide exceptional viewing of microfilm. Powerful image adjustment features and a large monitor provide ease of use to either print a document for 15¢/page or save it to a portable device. 

Genealogists, history buffs, or anyone wanting to look at past news of Muskegon, will enjoy perusing this resource available at the Norton Shores Branch. To access the Muskegon Chronicle microfilm collection, stop at the Library’s service desk, and our staff will assist you with getting started. 

MADL offers a digital archive of The Muskegon Chronicle via Newsbank, which provides searchable, full text of articles from the Muskegon Chronicle from 1997 to today and full-color page scans of the Chronicle from September 2018 to today.

The Muskegon Area District Library provides a research service for an obituary or other newspaper article search. The Muskegon Chronicle is not indexed, so providing accurate date information is very important and at least a month and year is required to submit a search.
